THE LAST ARMY AVIATION UNIT IS DELETED FROM THE ORDER OF BATTLE1RCHA Air OP Troop was the last army aviation unit to be deleted from the Army order of battle. The troop was absorbed by 444 Tactical Helicopter Squadron on October 1, 1972. The Der Kanadier newspaper published by the Canadian Forces Europe captured the event of 1RCHA's farewell to their Air OP Troop. The Air OP Troops with 2, 3 RCHAs and 5 RALC were deleted from the order of battle and absorbed by the other Tac Hel Sqns during the summer of 1971. Other than the 1RCHA Troop all of the other troops were disbanded without fanfare or significant acknowledgement of their service by the regiments. The Der Kanadier article was extracted from files held by Library and Archives Canada. The copy was provided by LCol (Retired) John Dick RCA, for the Canadian Army Aviation website. LCol(Ret'd) A.
