Wings and Ribbons belonging to Maj RR(Rudy) Ulrich RCCS as provided by his son Rick Ulrich. Rudy was the first of ten RCCS Officers to qualify as a Canadian Army Pilot and be awarded the coveted Canadian Army Flying Badge. He was also a member of the first Light Aircraft Pilot Course to be conducted after WW2, said Course being No.1 Air OP and Liaison Pilot Course (forerunner of subsequent Light Aircraft Pilot Courses). Rudy’s ab initio flight training was taken at the Brandon Flying Club, Brandon MB starting in Nov 48, afterwards moving to the Joint Air School (JAS) at Rivers MB for the advanced flying phase on Auster and Chipmunk aircraft. This Course graduated 12 Mar 49 with the award of the Canadian Army Flying Badge to the successful students.
