Series of photographs from the album of MGen DR (Doug) Baker RCA as kindly provided by his daughter Mrs. Dianne Watchorn.
Some photos depict ab initio flight training at the Brandon Flying Club, Brandon MB, during the period Jul-Oct 52 along with fellow
Course students Hans Tscharke RCASC, Gord Walker RCASC Bert Leggett RCA and Lloyd McMorran RCA. This Course then moved to the Light
Aircraft School (LAS) at CJATC Rivers MB as Light Aircraft Pilot Course No. 5 during the period Oct 52 to Feb 53 where advanced flying
training was completed on the Auster and Chipmunk aircraft and said students graduated thereafter with the award of the coveted Army Flying Badge.
Some of the photos in this collection also cover the period of training at Rivers and the period after graduation when MGen Baker was posted to 2
Air OP Flight in Shilo MB.
Note: Correct spelling of names throughout the photos should read Leggett, McMorran and Tscharke. The officer at left in picture No. 11 is Gord Walker, not Lloyd McMorran as indicated. |
